‘Different From’ Cheat Sheet

‘Different to’ or ‘Different from’?

It’s easy to get confused about whether to use ‘different to’ or ‘different from.’

But with my cheat sheet below, remembering is a breeze.

Now, I’m not saying this is based on any grammar theory, but the way I remember it is to imagine things that are similar can grouped together, so they might move TOWARDS each other. That means we use the expression ‘Similar to.’

Whereas, things that are different can’t be grouped together, so they might be said to move AWAY FROM each other. So, that’s how I remember it’s ‘Different from.’
